With husband, Stan Berenstain, she is the co-creator of the popular "Berenstain Bears" series of children's books.

Met Stan Berenstain while at the Philadelphia College of Art.

The first Berenstain Bears book, "The Great Honey Hunt," was published in 1962. The couple was discovered by and edited by children's author Dr. Seuss, who started Random House's Beginner Books series.

Her remains were cremated. Her ashes were given to her children.
