Kyaw Ko Thant Sin (GeorgeK) is an independent filmmaker from Myanmar, residing in Bangkok, Thailand. His latest short film "Sorry That I Left" raises awareness about the political situation in Myanmar. Additionally, his short film "Food Dating" premiered at the Kingdom of the Netherlands Embassy in Thailand and the 8th Asian University Film Festival in Beijing, China. He has been working as an independent filmmaker since 2014 and is extremely passionate about the craft. In 2017, he earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Newcastle, Australia. Despite studying a different major, he has always worked as a part-time freelance filmmaker to keep honing his skills.
After spending two years working as a Robotic Engineer in Australia, he found himself unsatisfied with his life. This turning point prompted him to pursue his passionate career as a full-time film director. In 2022, he started studying at Bangkok University in the major of Film and TV Productions to further develop his skill set in filmmaking. In Thailand, he worked as a director/writer for a few production companies such as Mar Vivo Films and Lighthouse Travel, and for various organizations including the Netherlands Embassy, Canadian Embassy, UNDP, IFES, American Chamber of Commerce, and Pride at Work Organisation. Moreover, he is also working as an intern at Greenlight Films. His motto is "God creates people. People create stories" - GeorgeK.
