Michaela von Schweinitz is a writer and visual artist with a multimedia background in production and editing. She left behind a successful career as journalist to write, produce, direct and edit her first German 16mm short film, Küss Mich (1999) with her nine-year-old daughter Nina in the lead role.
Working with renowned acting and directing teacher Judith Weston in her studio in LA, Michaela decided to move to Los Angeles where she directed her first independent feature, Love Songs of a Third Grade Teacher (2004). The comedy, a punk rock love story, was co-produced by Filmmakers Alliance and edited by Michaela’s daughter Eva von Schweinitz.
Michaela von Schweinitz was a board member of the Alliance of Women Directors serving as chair of membership and as newsletter editor until she moved to New York in 2017 where she became an active member of New York Women In Film and Television, Naked Angels New York City and Bobby Moresco’s The Actors Gym.
Over more than twenty years Michaela honed her story telling craft as a writer of screenplays, memoirs and fiction. She calls New York City her home where she writes and consults as a certified book coach.
