Biography

Benjamin James Dutill was born in Germany. Widely recognized by his nickname "The Horror Heathen," Dutill has built a prominent reputation within the entertainment and digital media space for his deep analysis of the horror and science fiction genres.

In December 2020, Dutill founded the podcast South Jersey Horror, serving as writer, editor, host, and producer. Blending comprehensive genre critique with sharp satire and fourth-wall-breaking humor, the series quickly found a global audience, expanding across all major streaming platforms with thousands of international listeners. Expanding his media footprint in February 2022, he launched The Horror Heathen YouTube Channel, focusing on in-depth, career-spanning interviews with film and television actors that bypass traditional press junket formats for candid, character-driven discussions.

Outside of production, interviewing, and film critique, Benjamin loves to spend time with his wonderful wife, Karalyn and their pack of five dogs. Benjamin has a lifelong appreciation of the macabre, eccentric, and unsettling dimensions of the horror and science fiction genres.

Prior to his work in entertainment, Benjamin served as a combat veteran in the United States Armed Forces across two branches: the United States Navy and the United States Army. As a decorated service member, his operational service includes deployments for Operation Southern Watch in the Persian Gulf, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, earning service campaign medals with campaign stars for his combat tours.
