Biography

Prolific assistant director, editor and screenwriter in London and Hollywood during the 60's and 70's, Antal retired to Cornwall and, inspired by the beautiful landscapes, he returned to film-making for 2002's Hwerow Hweg (2002) . Other projects were touted for production, but lack of funding forced his film company, West-Coast Productions, to cease in 2003. He has instead returned to writing scripts and novels and is working on two biographies of his life and works.

On making Hwerow Hweg: "Some people saw it is as a publicity stunt but it was not intentional; I'm not interested in politics. It was pure coincidence that Cornish language was prevalent in the news around the same time that the film was released, as it was going for minority language status. Understandably the film was picked up on by the media because of the timing, which was obviously a bonus, but I do not wish the film to be used as any kind of political tool."
