- Producer
Jack Chown is a composer based in London.
He graduated from the University of Oxford with a BA in music, with his attention drawn to field recording and ethnographic work. Originally a percussionist, he also studied at the Royal Academy of Music. It was in the studio though that Jack truly found his passion, quickly garnering a reputation for forward-thinking production with a sensitive touch.
After stints at Abbey Road and Baltic Studios, where he was fortunate to work alongside producers such as Andrew Wyatt, Kid Harpoon and Stint; and artists such as James Bay, Liam Gallagher and MIA; he is now based out of his own studio in East London.
Infusing vintage synths, guitar pedals, samplers, shakers and vinyl; he specialises in the creation of organic or electronic sounds for adverts working with brands such as; Asahi, Adidas, Sony, American Express, Levi's, Nike and Puma. Longer form projects include a Sky Arts documentary of Ai Wei Wei at the Royal Academy of Arts and a collaboration with Roli Seaboard. In the last year, he's also scored a documentary, Bad Goods, for Vice; short-form content pieces for Vogue, Porsche and Arrival; and two short films.
In 2020, he also launched his own solo project : kiskadee and, more recently, founded Hyper Relics with AV artist Neal Coghlan. The duo are creating new ways of experiencing audio-visual works in clubs, galleries and the metaverse. They've partnered with L-acoustics on this project to explore immersive audio in virtual and physical spaces - leading to various brand activations and label releases.
