Sarthak Hegde is a director, producer and writer celebrated for his hyper-stylized, audaciously provocative storytelling in contemporary Indian cinema. His work explores complex human emotions and socio-political realities through surreal narratives and striking visual language.
Hegde gained international recognition with his critically acclaimed film SURA (2023), which examined themes of identity and dogmatism. The film premiered at Oscar-qualifying festivals such as St. Louis and Rhode Island, and was nominated at the Critics' Choice Awards, India.
His next film, Green Girl, delves into interfaith love, identity, and communal tensions, blending raw realism with dreamlike surrealism to craft a hauntingly poetic narrative. The film was later presented by KRG Studios.
Hegde's bold narratives challenge societal constructs while pushing cinematic form, resulting in visually intricate and thematically daring works. He studied Fine Arts in Filmmaking at the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles.
