- He was a co-founder of Emergency, a humanitarian organization which brings medical care to impoverished, war-torn areas around the world. It has built hospitals, surgical centers, and maternity and pediatric wards in Cambodia, Serbia, Eritrea, Nicaragua and Sri Lanka, among other countries. Dr. Strada, a thoracic surgeon, personally performed thousands of operations.
