Biography

Nina Speight was born in 1891 in Australia. She is known for Love, Laughs and Lather (1917), We Never Sleep (1917) and Lonesome Luke Loses Patients (1917).

Speight introduced "The Vampire Dance", a provocative stage dance illustrating a female vampire seducing and feeding on a hapless male. Despite vociferous objection from many conservatives over its strong erotic intimations, it became a global sensation, drawing large crowds in the Vaudeville circuit. The dance was inspired by Rudyard Kipling's immensely popular poem "The Vampire".
