Sandra Ibarra Moreira is a Uruguayan filmmaker, technician, and actress who emerged as a versatile talent within Latin American cinema during the late 1980s and early 1990s. She developed her comprehensive filmmaking skills at the prestigious International Film and Television School (EICTV) in San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba, an institution famous for fostering multicultural and collaborative cinematic expressions across the continent.Throughout her time at EICTV, Ibarra Moreira actively bypassed conventional single-role constraints by moving fluidly between critical creative, technical, and logistical departments. In 1989, she demonstrated her strong technical capabilities by working as the director of photography on the cultural documentary La último gaita, while simultaneously managing sound design for Misa de Gallo and taking on production duties for the Argentine-Cuban co-production Crónica a tiempo.Her directorial and screenwriting debut arrived in 1990 with the fiction short film Un fantasma en mi sopa, an initiative bridging her creative roots between Cuba and Uruguay. That same year, she explored Antes-guardia acting, portraying the boss's wife in the cult student comedy Oscuros rinocerontes enjaulados... muy a la moda (1990).
