Biography

Jack Ryan

Mini bio

  • Jack Ryan is an award winning production designer and art director whose work includes Fellow Travelers (Showtime), all 11 seasons of A Haunting (Discovery), and the indie comedy Cherry, which Variety praised for "Ryan's convincingly bohemian set design."

In 2023, Ryan received an Emmy nomination for set design for Homicide Hunter: Never Give Up (Discovery). He previously won Telly Awards for Discovery's The Boys of H Company, for which he recreated the Sands of Iwo Jima and the Japanese tunnel defense system, and for Nat Geo's Interpol Investigates, for which he replicated Egyptian tombs.

Among the 19 feature films he has designed are David Baldacci's Wish You Well with Oscar winner Ellen Burstyn, and Coming Through The Rye with Oscar winner Chris Cooper. His set decoration credits include the Golden Globe winning series Dopesick (Hulu) and The Men Who Built America (History Channel).

Ryan has designed more than 300 episodes of TV docudramas including FBI Files, The New Detectives, Wicked Attraction, and Happily Never After. He also designed 2 seasons of Eish Safari (a Survivor-like show on the Middle Eastern Broadcast Network), for which he built replicas of Greek ruins on the Turkish coast and Native American villages on the Chesapeake Bay for contestant challenges.

Ryan has designed TV commercials for Walmart, the U.S Navy, Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCU), Stihl, car dealerships, and music videos such as Sober Thoughts for rapper Goldlink, which has received more than 1.5 million views.
