Biography

Dr. Guillermo R. Rodríguez Romaguera is a Puerto Rican writer, director, editor, and producer from San Juan. He began developing his voice as a writer at Princeton University, where he workshopped a novel under the mentorship of Gabriel García Márquez and Toni Morrison, before earning an M.F.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Southern California. His directorial debut, The Shadows, premiered in the Dramatic Competition at the Outfest LGBTQ Film Festival in Los Angeles and is available on Amazon Prime.

In addition to directing, Rodríguez has produced the feature Sweet Thing, which screened at the Seattle International Film Festival, and the horror short Totem Goat, which premiered at the Cannes Short Film Festival. He has also edited multiple feature films, a documentary series for The History Channel, and promotional work for major networks. He is the author of Spanish Meta-Art and Contemporary Cinema: Mirrors to the Unconscious (Bloomsbury, 2023) and is Assistant Professor of Cinema and Television Arts at California State University, Northridge.
