Tarik Akat
Tarik Akat, Turkish Paralympic Weightlifter, was born on 23 November 1997 in Berlin, Germany.
He started to live in Antalya after his family moved to Turkey. He received his primary and secondary education here. When he started high school, he completed his education by going to Palermo, Italy, with the abroad education program he attended.
Tarik Akat has been interested in motorcycles since his childhood, and when he returned to Turkey, he bought his first small motor racing motorcycle at the age of 18.
He won the Department of Cinema and Television at Akdeniz University. As he got older, he grew his motorcycle. At the age of 22, he owned one of the fastest motorcycles in the world.
He became a famous biker known and loved around Turkey. He had a traffic accident on April 29, 2021 on his way home on a motorcycle before the race he was going to attend.
His hip and leg bones were broken due to the accident. Tendons were damaged. He spent months in the hospital. He became disabled due to the accident.
After a while, his father passed away. After receiving physical therapy, he started walking again.
He started paralympic weightlifting with the support of his mother and those around him.
He won the silver medal by lifting 110 kg in 88 kg at the Turkey Physically Handicapped Weightlifting Championship held in Kocaelin in 2022.
