Rachel Sweetland

Rachel was born and raised in Houston, Texas and grew up with a passion for film. They decided to follow their dream after high school and enrolled at the University of Houston in 2018, majoring in Media Production at the Jack J. Valenti School of Communications. After spontaneously becoming the sound mixer of Before I Leave (2021), Sweetland discovered a passion for audio. in 2021, Sweetland created The Luckiest Peach, a podcast where they discuss and review a wide variety of films. They have been mentored in film journalism by Joe Leydon and is a member of Film Independent and the South Texas Film Critics Association. They continued learning about audio engineering and in 2022, worked with director Michael Grossman on Safe (2022) as the lead Sound Mixer and Designer. They have been mentored by Keith R. Houk and Paul Schneider in filmmaking and audio production.
