He was awarded the MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) before being awarded the CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2023 King's Birthday Honours List for his services to Association Football and to the community in Scotland. He lives in Lenzie, Dunbartonshire, Scotland.
