Jewell R. Powell is a writer, director, and producer of faith-based films, and a licensed minister. Through her company, Impact Nations Entertainment LLC, she creates high-quality films, shows, and podcasts rooted in Christian value; stories that go beyond entertainment to speak to the heart and spark meaningful conversations.
Her debut feature, Unfailing Love (2024) is a modern retelling of the Book of Hosea about a faithful husband pursuing his unfaithful wife that won 15 awards, including Audience Choice at the International Christian Film & Music Festival (2024) and Best American Film at the Cannes Film Awards (2026), and streams on Roku. Her second feature, A Christmas Journey (2026), is a holiday drama inspired by A Christmas Carol about a young woman whose journey through her past, present, and future leads to healing, forgiveness, and renewed faith. The film premiered in Maryland in July 2026 and plays a national theatrical run across 13 Regal locations from September through December 2026.
Powell came to filmmaking after retiring from the U.S. Postal Service as a Contracting Officer. She is also the author of Marriage 101: Building a Life Together by Faith, one of the first marriage books and companion curricula written specifically for the African American Christian community; and An Open Invitation: A Bride Making Herself Ready.
She lives in Maryland with her husband and two daughters.
