Biography

  • Shirley Jackson is already making her mark in the acting world. She is a Nigerian-Dominican Canadian, trained actress, model, and dancer. Shirley began her journey in the performing arts at 13, making an appearance in the Canadian pop duo Tegan and Sara's short film U-Turn (2017). She later starred in a Nike and Duke of Edinburgh commercial as a track runner. She is known for Wallflower: The Web Series, Charles Charles TM, BET's true crime series Love You to Death, Dude Don't Go, The Sting, and Project Naked.

Growing up in Toronto, Shirley was captivated by actors on the big screen from the age of 5. Movies and television became an escape from reality, and noticing the limited minority representation, she gravitated toward shows with Black characters. She always knew it was in her blood to tell stories with authenticity and connect with audiences through the characters she portrays. She continues to challenge herself by taking on roles that are both inspiring and outside of her comfort zone.

In addition to acting, Shirley is trained in stage combat and weapons handling. When she's not on set, she is a part time student at York University, studying Law and Society. Her dance experience spans a variety of genres, including Afrobeat, Jazz Funk, Hip Hop, Dancehall, and Afro-Fusion.

Shirley is determined to make an impact in the entertainment industry and be a voice for women of colour.
