Saw his career "take off" during the 90s, performing mostly commercial hits that were loved by the young audience of the time, and beyond.

Dimitris Kokotas' life changed dramatically on March 28, 2024, when he suddenly felt unwell and collapsed during rehearsals for the television show "J2US." As the hospital announced at the time, he had suffered cardiac arrest. Resuscitation efforts were carried out, he was intubated and urgently transferred to the Haemodynamic Unit at Gennimatas Hospital. He had previously suffered a serious cardiac episode, while his condition was considered extremely critical from the outset.

The Municipality of Agia Varvara, by unanimous resolution of its municipal council, of which Kokotas had been an elected member since 2024, as a tribute to his services to the area, decided to establish an annual scholarship of the municipal conservatory in his name, as well as a hall of the municipal conservatory.

His second solo album titled Synedisi was released on November 9, 1995. The album reached 60,000 sales and went platinum.

In 2013, Kokotas, along with Haris Varthakouris , Grigoris Bithikotsis and Stelios Dionysiou, performed concerts in many countries such as Germany , the Netherlands , England , Sweden , Belgium , Brazil , Argentina , Canada , the United States , Australia and Israel in a tour called " A Tribute to the Legends" performing a retrospective of their fathers' greatest hits, while in recent years he has made joint appearances with Giorgos Lembesis.
