Biography

  • Marcelo Di Marcio is an actor, director, and writer. He is known for his roles in "DNA do Crime" (Criminal Code), "Urubus" (Vultures), and "Pico da Neblina" (Joint Venture). He also directed the short films "Conte Até Três e Manda Ver!" (On Three, Go!), "Gauthier" (Dangerous Lapses), "Queda Cortês" (Lara & Paul), "O Castigo do Matador" (The Killer's Movie Audition), and the feature film "Cadê o presente de Natal?" (Christmas Gift). Born in São Paulo, SP/Brazil, Di Marcio grew up in the East Side, in a poor area of the city. He began his career as a radio announcer and crime columnist. Later, he studied architecture but decided to pursue the art of screenwriting and filmmaking, a dream he had since childhood. As an independent filmmaker, he has produced and acted in several short films. Di Marcio founded YO!Filmes, his own film production company, where he runs two social projects: OfiCine (The Oficine) and the project "A Arte Que Salva" (The Art That Saves), both of which are free film schools that give young people from marginalized areas the opportunity to make low-budget films with good quality.
