As a writer, Smith's feature screenplay Tijuana Touchdown won the Grand Prix for Best Feature Screenplay at the Chicago Script Awards and earned multiple Best Screenplay titles from Festigious International Film Festival, Hollywood International Screenplay Awards, and others. His additional screenplays-including Bouquet Canyon, Alabaster Muse, Easter Bunny, and the TV pilot Locked Up: The Fish-have all received recognition as finalists, semi-finalists, or award winners across competitions such as ScreenCraft, ISA Fast Track, BlueCat, Scriptmatix Fellowship, and the Cannes Script Festival.
