- Jeff Baena was born on June 29, 1977 in Miami, Florida, USA. He was a writer and producer, known for The Little Hours (2017), Life After Beth (2014) and Joshy (2016). He was married to Aubrey Plaza. He died on January 3, 2025 in Los Feliz, Los Angeles, California, USA.

- Baena's film Horse Girl, which he wrote with star Alison Brie, had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2020.
- It was his work with David O. Russell that put him on the map. The two collaborated on four screenplays, including I Heart Huckabees, starring Dustin Hoffman and Lily Tomlin.
- After graduating NYU Film School, Baena moved to Los Angeles to start building his career. He became a production assistant for Robert Zemeckis, working on a number of films.
- Baena died by suicide by hanging on January 3, 2025, at the age of 47. An assistant discovered his body at a home in the Los Angeles area.
