  • Maria Orska was born on March 16, 1893 in Nikolayev, Kherson Governorate, Russian Empire [now Mykolaiv, Ukraine]. She was an actress, known for Dämon und Mensch (1915), Die letzte Stunde (1921) and Die Bestie im Menschen (1921). She died on May 16, 1930 in Vienna, Austria.

  • She spoke fluently German, French, Italian, Russian and Polish.
  • She only appeared in few more movies in the 20's.
  • Orska married an important Jewish banker from Berlin in November 12/1920, much older than she was, Baron Hans von Bleichröder (son of Gerson von Bleichröder) and took a name of Baroness von Bleichröder. They were divorced in 1925.
  • Her photographs appeared on covers of magazines, postcards with her portraits were distributed all over that part of the continent.
  • The actress Maria Orska was developed by Ferdinand Gregori in St. Petersburg in 1910 and she made her stage debut in Germany at the Hoftheater Mannheim. It followed theater engagements in Hamburg from 1911 and finally in Berlin from 1915 by the legendary Max Reinhardt.
