Makanaka is a Scriptwriter and published Author from Harare Zimbabwe. Her experience includes 9 years in the varied, unpredictable but immensely fulfilling world of story-telling as a script writer and author.
She has written and been part of writing rooms for a number of South African films and telenovelas some which have won awards at the South African Film and Television Awards(SAFTAs). Kleva-ish which she co-wrote was the best African Film at the Cannes Film Awards 2023 and Best Feature Film at the National Film and TV Awards South Africa 2023.
Her debut novel Perfect Imperfections was published in 2019 by Black Bird Books in South Africa.
Makanaka seeks to use her overactive imagination to tell stories that matter, stories that change perspectives and give a voice to those who do not have one.
She is open to collaborative writing, working with producers and creatives who also want to express their creativity on the screen, on stage and on print media..
