Becka wrote and directed her first feature, "Jwah Da Vee", and shot it in a mere 5 days on the shores of Lake Superior. Born in Minneapolis, Becka was in Juilliard's group 31 studying with the likes of Jessica Chastain and Anthony Mackie. She moved back to Minneapolis after the birth of her son. She is an elected official in MInneapolis. She identifies as a member of the LGBTQ community.

She is an alumna of the Juilliard School.

She has run three L.A. Marathons. Most recently March 6, 2005

Has a bachelors of science degree in Mathematics from the University of
Minnesota
