Biography

Aidan Fraser began making movies at the age of seven. In his 16 year career he has contributed to nearly 40 features, including the award-winning King Kong, titles in the Pirates in the Caribbean and Star Wars franchises, Downsizing and more, working at studios including ILM, Weta, Rising Sun, Laika Atomic Fiction, and Method Studios.

From early on he had a propensity for the strange and surreal. In 1992 he co-wrote and co-directed, "Limbo" a surreal drama, which placed first in the fiction category of The American Film Institute's "Visions of US" video competition.

From 1995 to 1999 Aidan studied film and Digital Media at UC Santa Cruz, with an emphasis on visual effects.

Between 2000 and 2003 Aidan quickly went from doing television graphics to working for Industrial Light & Magic on such films as the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and Star Wars Episode III.

In 2005 Aidan worked on the Academy Award winning visual effects for King Kong (2005). He followed this by returning to ILM as a compositor on Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006). This film won both the Oscar for visual effects and the Visual Effects Society Award for outstanding compositing in a motion picture.

In 2015 Aidan became a Visual Effects supervisor at Atomic Fiction (now part of Method Studios) on such films as Rings, Office Christmas Party, Downsizing, Velvet Buzzsaw, and the Hulu original series The First.
