Poramet Ariyakusonsuthi

Poom's full name is Poramet Ariyakusonsuthi. Poom is from Bangkok, Thailand. His filmmaking journey began when he was 12, when he filmed fun, silly videos with his friends. VFX was what sparked his interest and curiosity. Started off with a phone, he soon took up his first proper editing software, Adobe After Effects. He was self-taught and learned most of the things from YouTube. It was around the same time that YouTube filmmaking/editing channels, such as Film Riot, Corridor Digital, Cinecom.net, Film Learnin, Production Crate, Video Copilot, IanHubert were going off. He learned and took inspiration from them. Wanting to try more VFX editing, he was simultaneously pushed to film more videos. This was also the start of him learning the art of photography and the importance of filming for VFX. When he turned 14, he finally got his first camera, a Sony a6300. That enabled him to explore and experiment more in different directions. He later became one of the pioneers of the Photography and Production club in his secondary school. With his club members, he did a considerable amount of photography and videography work for his school. This helped him develop a sense of professionalism, the ability to adapt in the moment, and confidence behind the camera. Being in a supportive yet competitive environment, his passion grew stronger. Not long after being part of the club, he took up Adobe Premiere Pro and other software. During his time in high school, he also took part in competitions and won different awards for photography, editing, and filmmaking. Being in the club, he also got to swap around and try many different cameras, lenses, and other gear. He later got his second camera, which was Z Cam E2 M4, when he was 18, as he believed he had pushed his first camera to the limit. At that point, he had fully become a camera nerd and, at school, was holding workshops and activities, and sharing his experience with juniors. He also started to make short films for submission to film festivals. Soon after that, he moved to Perth, Australia, to pursue higher education. He started his photography and film production business, which allowed him to meet new people and do more professional work. During this time, he met his best friends, as well as slowly became a small part of the indie filmmaking community. He built up his connections and a small network of people, as he helped some other filmmakers out with their projects. His exploration expanded further and deeper into different aspects of filmmaking and production. However, having a lot of things going on in his life, he wasn't quite able to work on his own projects as much as he used to. Still, he tried to do smaller things as well as collaborating with people to, at least, have something creative to do. Now that he has finished his education, he has been doing his business full-time while still doing filmmaking projects on the side, as that is still where his passion truly is.
