Biography

Jack McKenzie is an award-nominated Scottish Composer, Orchestrator and Arranger for Film, Television, Video Games and Concerts. A highly versatile writer, his music varies in genre and style, often maintaining a heavy emphasis on melodic, thematic and story-focused writing, in combination with the integration of unusual and unique contemporary techniques and sounds. His music for the critically-acclaimed short documentary "Kalu - Growing Up Wild" earned him a nomination for "Best Score" at the Hollywood Music In Media Awards (2023) in Los Angeles, California.

He is a frequent assistant and collaborator with fellow Scottish Composer Blair Mowat, most notably as an Additional Music Composer for ITV's hit crime drama "McDonald & Dodds" and as an Arranger and Orchestrator for Mowat's BAFTA-nominated score for "Nolly", written by Russell T. Davies and directed by Peter Hoar.

As well as a graduate from the prestigious BAFTA and Oscar award-winning National Film and Television School, Jack has received extensive personal mentorship from some of the industry's most renowned and celebrated composers, including Oscar-winning Dario Marianelli and Emmy-winning Adam Lukas. Jack has recorded and worked with some of the best musicians and studios in the world, including AIR Studios London, the London Contemporary Orchestra, Budapest Art Orchestra, The Sony Scoring Stage in Los Angeles and, alongside Mowat, were the first to record a film score with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra in their state-of-the-art recording facility, "Scotland's Studio" (October 2021)
