Moving to the states and completing her studies, she became a qualified CPA. Appearing in an episode of TLC's Extreme Cheapskates, where Kate was encouraged to exaggerate her thrifty money saving ways by the producers to create an extreme cheapskate character. Kate then received a lot of negative backlash for this portrayal. In an interview with iamunbeautiful, Kate reveals her insecurities stemming from childhood trauma and how the public had left a lot of negative personal comments about her looks.
Kate has since gone back to her unassuming everyday life. Despite all the hate she has received, she continues to be a strong and beautiful person.
