Tihana Jana Vukic

Tihana J. Vukic (b. 1991, Locarno) is an occupational therapist specializing in mental health, as well as a filmmaker and producer. She began her artistic journey in amateur theatre, directing her first play at 25 before shifting her focus to film production. She later moved to Zagreb, Croatia, to study filmmaking and photography, where she developed a distinctive audiovisual approach centered on storytelling. Her work places individual narratives at the forefront, exploring the deep connection between emotions and the body-an approach rooted in her theatrical background. This perspective led to the creation of Little Life Tales (2018-2024), a documentary project that has brought the stories of over a hundred individuals in front of her camera, shaping a collective portrait of contemporary humanity. Her projects Female Liberation (2021) and Baka (2021) received recognition and awards at the European level, while her short documentary Teachers (2023) was screened at the Croatian International Film Festival. Currently based in Locarno, Vukic continues to explore the power of storytelling through film, capturing personal histories and emotional landscapes with depth and sensitivity.
