Stephen Heath

Mini bio

  • Stephen Heath is an actor and multi-instrumentalist songwriter & composer seen w LA Takedown, on stage w Weyes Blood for 2019, and even drumming for JT Leroy's band way back then (sharing a stage w Lou Reed once ).

In 2020 he was slated to be on the road w Jess Williamson for her beautiful new record, but COVID.

Studio work & other tours include include DA Stern, guitar contributions on Death Valley Girls new record ( 2020), Paul Bergmann, The Musical Tracings ensemble, & as part of the Eager band for the premier of Allison Schulnik's film by the same name.

From playing Gilman St in punk bands, to minimalist scores for experimental theater, he has kept a varied mindset in his musical pursuits.

Stephen spent his early band years on bass in the NorCal band Stroke 9, playing guitar in punk band Friendly Dead Kids, as hype man for Bay Area ska band Jimmy 2 Times, and on guitar in underground legends CFB.

After living through the NorCal funk-metal explosion of the early 90's, he made his way to Los Angeles where he spent a good chunk of time trodding the boards, quoting the bard.

You watched Mighty Morphin Power Rangers? 90210? Underground horror flicks? Twin Peaks ? You might have seen him.

The early 2000's found stephen playing underground shows in the South East London Burroughs of New Cross, Deptford and Lewisham at a time when you dare not walk there after dark.

Soon after joining LA Takedown on drums, he was banished to guitar where he's happily remained since picking up studio and touring work.

As a composer he worked with choreographer Ken Roht on his non binary adaptation of Strindberg's Miss Julie, taking strong cues from Ligetti and Cage in his approach.

As a producer Stephen harnessed the creative powers of poet and writer AP Menzies for a flexi disc to accompany his book Friends & Other Signs of the Apocalypse on Dirt Bike Press.

The two also collaborated w Nick Ebling for a 10 inch, AP and the Heath, with Storm Studios designing and shooting the cover.
