Chowdhury Vikas Das was born in Kotiyan Barang village of Jagatsinghpur district of Odisha. His father was a doctor. He wanted his son to be a doctor too. However, Das had a passion for drawing and acting. While studying at BJB College, he was introduced to the director of the play, Ajit Das, while acting in a play called "Mah, Bhe, Vimeam". Ajit Das inspired him to study Uttchar in drama. He enrolled in the drama department at the Utah College of Music. There he studied drama from Vijay Mohanty, Ajit Das and other teachers
