Alexander Stamatiadis (b. 1999) is an award-winning Greek-German director, screenwriter, and photographer based in Athens. He works across film, music videos, and commercial campaigns, with an artistic practice rooted in autobiography, exploring themes of origin, national and personal identity, as well as memories of love and loss.
His latest short film, Atlantic (2025), premiered at the 48th Drama International Short Film Festival, where it received the Special Jury Award and the "From Drama to Clermont-Ferrand" distinction. This led to his participation in the development program for emerging filmmakers, Road to Clermont-Ferrand, held during the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival in France in February 2026. The same film was also awarded Best Film by the Youth Jury (Ages 14+) at the 28th Olympia International Film Festival for Children and Young People.
His campaign film A Hot Day (2025) premiered online on NOWNESS, while his previous dance film Thorn (2022) premiered at PÖFF Shorts, as part of the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in Estonia, and at the Aesthetica Short Film Festival in the UK.
Alongside his film work, he has collaborated extensively with artists from the Greek music scene, as well as directing campaigns for international clients.
His upcoming film, Volta (2027), produced by Neda Film, is currently in development, with shooting scheduled for 2026. The project has received funding from the Hellenic Film and Audiovisual Center - Creative Greece (EKKOMED).
