Biography

  • Giuliano Robert is a Brazilian Deaf filmmaker. Born in Curitiba, Paraná, he is one of the pioneers of Deaf presence in Brazilian audiovisual media. His works have been selected for more than 400 festivals in Brazil and abroad. He holds a degree in Photography from Centro Europeu and is a photographer for the Deaf Theater Showcase at the Curitiba Festival. He has directed the short films "The Search of Self and Silence," "Rapper Hands: The Signed Harmony of Deaf Hip Hop," and "Which Language Do You Laugh In?". He collaborated with Urca Filmes on the series "Classic Maniac" and "Sebastiana". He has participated in feature films such as "House of Izabel," "Not Every Love Story Ends in Death," "Sticky: The Musical of Gestures," "Deaf Glances," and "Alice Júnior," selected for the 70th Berlin International Film Festival - Berlinale. His collaborations include Beija Flor Filmes, Fluindo Libras, Cultura de Acesso, TV Globo, Canal Futura, Canal Brasil, Prime Video, Netflix, and the University of São Paulo (USP). He is currently developing original projects in film and cultural heritage, including his first feature film.
