Admires the work of directors Pedro Almodóvar and David Lynch.

He speaks six languages, and works with directors as varied as Giacomo Battiato , Jan Krüger , Lorraine Lévy , Babak Najafi and Anton Corbijn .

In 2012 Mehdi directed his first play, Les Justes by Albert Camus at the Théâtre de Liège. The show toured in France and Germany in 2013.

After studying drama and music at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, then at the CNSAD in Paris, and finally at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, he pursued his career in film and theater.

At the age of sixteen his first lead role in a feature film was in "Le Soleil assassiné" , directed by Abdelkrim Bahloul and produced by the Dardenne brothers, for which he was nominated as Best Actor at the Joseph Plateau Awards.

He was recruited at a cast of the production house Dardenne Brothers (Les Films du Fleuve)in which his drama teacher has registered him.

In 2014 Mehdi Dehbi was nominated for the Découverte (Discovery) Prize at the 2014 Prix de la critique awards as a director.

In Paris the completed his training at the Conservatory with Éric Lacascade , and moved to the cinema in Simon Eskenazy's "La Folle Histoire d'amour "as soon as he left school with a quadruple role (he played Naïm, two women and a transvestite) , which earned him a " Révélations " preselection for the 2010 César and the Premiers Rendez-vous prize at the Cabourg 1 Film Festival the same year.

He showed an early inclination for the arts, takes acting classes, singing, music theory, of dance.

From the age of ten, Dehbi attended the Académie Grétry theater and music school, which had been established in the hospital building where he had been born.
