Elmar Gasimov was born on November 2, 1990 in the city of Khirdalan, Azerbaijan. Elmar Gasimov has been doing sports since 2000. Elmar Gasimov is a graduate of Azerbaijan State Economic University. Elmar Gasimov achieved his first success in 2007. He won a silver medal at the Azerbaijan Under-20 Championship and a bronze medal at the Azerbaijan Under-23 Championship. That same year, he also finished third in the Azerbaijan Championship. In 2008, he already participated in international competitions. Elmar Gasimov took the 7th place at the U-20 World Championship. One year later, in 2009, Elmar Gasimov was recognized throughout Azerbaijan. He won a gold medal at the European Youth Championship in Yerevan, Armenia, and the National Anthem of Azerbaijan was played in his honor in Yerevan. Elmar Gasimov took the 5th place at the 2016 European Championship in Kazan, Russia.
