  • Born and raised in Pasadena, Ca. Served in the U.S. Navy 1945-1947. Soon after World War II, he began a career in Fine Art Painting at the Couinard Art Institute Los Angeles,CA studying under Donald Graham, Richard Haines and Dan Lutz from 1948-1949. His studies then took him to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico from 1949-1950 where he lived and studied at the Escuela Universidad de Bellas Artes with David Alfaro Siqueiros and was a participating artist on the mural project. After his return from Mexico he taught at Chouinard and then began his animation career, which spanned over 40 years. He worked for several animation companies as well as television production studios. While animation was a big part of his career Fine Art was always his heart. His oil paintings, watercolors and serigraphs have been exhibited and collected in virtually every part of the United States,and in various countries. He exhibited in The White House, New York World's Fair, Brooklyn Museum, Metropolitan Museum, Library of Congress, Smithsonian, Boston Public Library, Philadelphia Museum. He was a leading serigraph artist and exhibited and sold through the Western Serigraph Institute. Two of his serigraphs were hung in the White House during the Lyndon Johnson Administration - one in the President's residence and one in Dr. Henry Kissinger's office. His list of awards include: Senator James D. Phelan Award for Native California Painters, 1961 Purchase Award, Library of Congress. He also taught painting, design and printmaking at Ventura College for 14 years from 1964-1978. He conducted workshops at So.Oregon University, the Rogue Gallery in Medford, Oregon,and The Oceanside Museum of Art, Oceanside, Ca. Art was his language and he was a master. His passion for art was apparent in translating the abstraction of language into his visual world of art, whether it was an oil painting, watercolor or serigraph.
