- Jean Soubeyran was born on January 3, 1921 in Paris, France. He was an actor and director, known for Das Leben ist die größte Schau - Seltsame Geschichten und komische Begebenheiten (1964), Das Stacheltier - Der junge Engländer (1958) and Peter und der Wolf (1964). He was married to Brigitte Soubeyran. He died on September 3, 2000 in Hannover, Germany.

- The largest part of his life spent and worked in Germany and is known therefore mainly there as a representative of modern pantomime.
- The realization of his dream to establish his own German pantomime Theatre, based on the models of the Fialka and Tomaszewski groups failed to appropriate support.
- Since the mid-1940s, he began to teach and to give lectures on "Modern theatre and pantomime" from the 1950s.
- After his retirement in 1986 he worked until his death still on many free theatre projects.
- The mime-ensemble Jean Soubeyran had its own television programme broadcast by the VPRO (Liberal Protestant Radio Broadcaster) called 'Jean Soubeyran en zijn pantomime-ensemble' (Jean Soubeyran and his mime-ensemble).
