Galo Recalde is an actor, producer, scriptwriter and director of Ecuadorian cinema, who is best known for the character of Dr. Expertus of the children's program of the same name, and for the parodies and characters in the humorous television program " Neither Live nor Direct"
Dr. Expertus (1994-1997)
In 1994 he starred in the children's program Dr. Expertus for the signal from the then television channel SíTV. The program was directed at the beginning by Stanley Lee Parker and later by Héctor Cáceres. He also worked with Ursula Strenge (Hanna), Gustavo Zevallos (Bungunala) and Fernando Gálvez (Calcetín); the latter were also the original scriptwriters of the program and later joined by Alberto Nácer and Rafael Ulloa.
In 1995, the program was named "best children's television program" in the Hispano-American Forum of Children's Television in Mexico DF. Later , Galo was named "the best artistic talent of the year" by the Ecuadorian Association of Advertising Agencies.
"Neither live nor direct "(1997-1998) In 1997 Galo created the original concept of "Neither live not direct", a comedy program of political parodies and entertainment that was broadcasted by Ecuadorian Network TC Television originally on Tuesdays at 9:30 p.m. Galo created the concept of "being a clandestine television channel that pirated the signal of several national channels to broadcast what they said was what the viewer wants to see". Recalde, David Reinoso and Jorge Toledo who was the producer, were part of of the creative team, taking the humor of Ecuadorian television to an unexplored field at the time, causing a good national acceptance and a rejection by those who were parodied. Galo Recalde, David Reinoso and Flor María Palomeque conducted the program and were part of the original cast. Recalde was part of the program until 2000
United States ( Early 2000's-2010)
He studied at Columbia University in the city of New York, United States where he stayed for 6 years, obtaining the title of Master of Arts (MFA) with Concentration in Film Direction.3 1 2 In 2001 , Showtime Networks from USA awarded him the first place in the Showtime Networks Latino Filmmaker Competition award, earning $ 30,000 for the production of a new film, thanks to his 15-minute short film, "First Day," which deals with a child who is changed from private school to public by his father , due to the unemployment in the country,
He also worked in Miami Florida as a creative for MTV and América TeVe. He was part of a Univisa campaign characterizing a futuristic character called UNIVISARRR.
Captain Expertus (2011-2012) In 2010 he returns to Ecuador and in 2011 he works for Ecuavisa, in a new comic science fiction series, Captain Expertus, based on the character of Dr. Expertus with a new futuristic version.
In 2015 he returns to USA. He now lives in Redding California, he is the pioneer professor of the " Making Short movies " class at Simpson University in California. Here he produced and wrote-directed his recent short film " Americana!", which marks the re-start of his career as a filmmaker and creative artist in the United States.
