His ambition was to sail his boat from Norway to the Cape of Good Hope.
It didn't matter that he was only 19 and totally inexperienced as a
sailor. When he finds the Cape is just a disappointing jumble of rocks,
he decides to sail south to Antarctica, as seen in
Berserk in the Antarctic (2000), and his
crew for the new journey are also totally inexperienced as sailors.
