Chukwuka Osakwe is a Filmmaker and Photographer based in Lagos, Nigeria. He is the founder of Camroll Pictures Studio, a visual production and photography business that infuses filmmaking tools and techniques to tell better photo and visual stories.
Over the past seven years, he has built a multifaceted career in Nollywood, working across various roles that have shaped his storytelling perspective. His journey began as a Unit Still Photographer, where he contributed to several high-profile productions, including acclaimed TV series like Far From Home (Netflix), Shanty Town (Netflix), and Slum King (Africa Magic). He also worked on theatrical blockbusters such as Everybody Loves Jenifa, Battle on Buka Street, and Omo Ghetto: The Saga. Projects that showcased his ability to capture narrative compelling visuals that complimented their storytelling.
In the last four years, he transitioned into roles as an Assistant Director and Director, a natural progression influenced by his deep engagement with filmmaking. Still photography was his entry point into the industry, offering him a front-row seat to the art of visual storytelling. Through photography, he developed a keen ability to encapsulate entire stories in a single frame, often drawing inspiration from the rich narratives of the projects he worked on. This role also gave him a comprehensive understanding of film production, sparking his deep interest in Assistant Directing and, eventually, Directing.
