  • He retired from dancing at the peak of his career when he was 35. He said he knew far too many dancers who danced so long that they did permanent damage to their knees or backs.
  • He began studying dance as a child, with his mother, a ballet teacher. At age 7, he entered the school of the Budapest State Opera Ballet (now the Hungarian State Opera House Ballet). He joined the Budapest company in 1960.
  • Prima Ballerina Absolutta Natalia Makarova called him one of her all-time favorite partners.
  • He won a silver medal at the International Ballet Competition in Varna, Bulgaria, where.
