Selina Polk never knew her father growing up. Years later, she met Tom Moses an actor, writer, and producer and discovered he was her dad. Through him she was also introduced to her sister, Christina Moses, actress and writer known for Containment, The Originals, and Star Trek: Voyager. That is when Selina realized it was in her blood. She picked up a pen, and the gift showed up. In 2008 she wrote her first book, How To Please Your King, and sold over 5,000 copies.
In 2009, How To Please Your Queen hit bookshelves. In 2010, she released the fictional tale, Girl I Got a Story to Tell. In 2012, The Untold took readers around the world with Selina as she met men, women, and children whose stories of hurt and abuse touched her deeply. In those moments, Selina became a voice of healing, motivating people to forgive and let go of pain and bitterness. Since then, Selina has written 8 books and mentored over 50 authors under her publishing company, Polk Publishing. Then her impact moved from page to stage to screen. In 2017, her novel First Lady premiered at Baltimore’s historic Senator Theater. It was a sold-out, standing-room-only event with 822 people, the first time in Baltimore City history. Books sold out that night, with love pouring in from Baltimore and cities across the country. In 2019, her screenplay, Sweet Mandisa premiered on Netflix. In 2025, her stage play, The Unexpected sold out with 400 guests in attendance. In 2026, she recaptured the story with her new movie, First Lady: The Offspring. Her screenplay, Afraid of the Dark is in production now, with the novel releasing soon, Be Careful Who You Love. Selina’s work is rooted in grace, legacy, and truth. Her latest book, Whispers of Grace That Saved Me tells the story of where grace found her, at the burning bush.
