Biography

Yon Motskin is an Emmy-nominated director, screenwriter and showrunner. His work is known for its bold cinematic style, propulsive narrative, wit, and deeply human characters. Recently he directed and produced the blockbuster sci-fi hit ENCOUNTERS (Netflix) with Steven Spielberg's Amblin, which premiered at #1 in the U.S. and remained in the Global Top 5 for its first three weeks. The latest film he directed for Netflix, a sensational mother-son true-crime story about succession, mental health and murder at sea, will launch globally in November 2025. He wrote the feature ETHEL for Elisabeth Moss and 2929, and is developing his narrative directorial debut, the outrageous and original comic satire DON'T MIND ME. Other recent work includes DIRTY MONEY (Netflix), THE FAMILY (Netflix), GENERATION HUSTLE (HBO Max), HOW TO FIX A DRUG SCANDAL (Netflix) and AGE OF A.I. starring and produced by Robert Downey Jr. He launched his career with an award-winning short out of NYU that premiered at Sundance and screened at Tribeca, SxSW and worldwide.
