Biography

Born in 1994, Rkomi began his career at 17 with self-produced mixtapes. After producing the EP "Dasein Sollen", in 2017 he released his first official album, "Io in Terra", hailed by audiences and critics, which went platinum. In 2018, he released the book/EP "Ossigeno", a concept project that drew on his original creative process. His personal studies and musical exploration steered him toward melody and creating his own genre of music, without borders or labels, mixing the world of rap he comes from and the singer-songwriter world he aims for. In 2019, he released the album "Dove gli occhi non arrivano", recorded in Italy and South Africa. An ambitious project that moved away from the typical trap and hip hop production styles and embraced a more multifaceted and multiform musicality. "Dove gli occhi non arrivano" went platinum. For this project, Rkomi involved some of the most interesting and eclectic figures in Italian music: Elisa, Sfera Ebbasta, Ghali, Carl Brave, Dardust, and Jovanotti, who invited him to the last Jova Beach Party in Milan Linate where he gave a thrilling live performance. His latest official album, "Taxi Driver", released on April 30, 2021, is a concept album featuring Tommaso Paradiso, Gazzelle, Ariete, Irama, Shablo, Sfera Ebbasta, Roshelle, Dardust, Ernia, Gaia, Tommy Dali, Chiello. Rkomi walks side by side with each "guest", adapting his style to theirs. This album broke all previous records: four-time platinum status, it was number one on the Italian FIMI-GFK charts for several weeks, and 46 weeks since its release it's still number three. It's the most sold album of 2021 (FIMI-GFK) and the most listened to Italian album of 2021 on Spotify. There's also a special Mtv Unplugged version of "Taxi Driver", a live acoustic recording from Milan's Teatro Carcano with several exclusive guests. At the moment, after the release of Rkomi's single with Elodie, "La coda del diavolo", you can also hear him on the radio with "Insuperabile", the song he competed with at the Festival di Sanremo this year.
