Biography

  • Maestro Robinson is an American musician, actor, producer and content creator.

He was born Steven Joseph Robinson in Los Angeles, California on September 22nd, 1989. His parents, Steven Lamont Robinson and Kimitra Nicolette Robinson established their careers in the legal profession-though they are both talented singers, having raised Maestro and his younger brother in a faith and music-based household.

Maestro began playing drums at the age of two, and by his early teen years he was performing professionally. (In addition to a heavy music curriculum throughout middle school and high school.) After high school graduation, he was awarded a scholarship to attend the prestigious Berklee College Of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. Following in the footsteps of many other notable alumni, Maestro returned to Los Angeles to begin his career, after only a couple of years working and studying in the New England region.

Having been exposed to the business of acting while in Boston, his new pursuits involved drums and on-camera opportunities, often times performing both simultaneously. While balancing a heavy touring schedule drumming for megastars like Selena Gomez and Liam Payne (of One Direction), Maestro has been cast in numerous independent films and commercials-his favorite being a Footlocker/Adidas project alongside Snoop Dogg.

When he's not studying and auditioning, Maestro connects with his online audience through content creation. His original sketches and drum cover videos often go viral on the immensely popular app, TikTok.

Trivia

  • Has traveled the world as a drummer, performing with artists such as David Archuleta, Selena Gomez, Conrad Sewell, Hailee Steinfeld, Lil Nas X, Mr. Talkbox, Liam Payne (of One Direction), Chanel West Coast, and many others.
  • He was offered the role of 'Ferrone' in the Showtime series "Roadies" in 2016, but was unable to accept the part due to his commitments as the drummer for Selena Gomez's Revival Tour.
  • He has his own line of "Maestro" artist-series drumsticks designed by Ahead. Online retailers like Guitar Center, Target, and Musician's Friend, are selling them.
  • In his early teens, the nickname "Maestro" was sarcastically given to him by a local pastor during a less-than productive church band rehearsal. Nevertheless, the name stuck and was endearingly adopted into his artistry.
  • He credits "The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air" for introducing him to acting. Very curious to know if 'real acting' was as fun as reciting Fresh Prince lines he had committed to memory, he found a local theater hosting auditions for an upcoming production. He made a deal with himself that if he had fun in the audition, whether he's offered a part or not, he'll pursue acting. He was not offered a part (or a call-back for that matter), but he had a blast. To this day, he's honored the deal he made with himself, and it all began with 'His Royal Freshness' and the Banks family.
