Biography

Madeleine Arbour was born on March 3, 1923 in Granby, Québec, Canada. She was an actress, known for La Boîte à Surprise (1956), Nursery School Time (1958) and Reportage (1956). She was married to Pierre Gauvreau. She died on December 10, 2024 in L'Île-Perrot, Québec, Canada.

She was awarded the 2012 Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal from the Canadian Governor General for her services to Canada in Notre-Dame De L'Ile Perrot, Quebec, Canada.

She was awarded the C.M. Member of the Order of Canada) on: December 29 1986 and invested on April 29, 1987 in Notre-Dame De L'Ile Perrot, Quebec, Canada. She was Head of the Display Arts Section of the Collège Du Vieux-Montréal and President of Arbour Et Associés, she has also had a remarkable career in television, writing scripts and designing model sets for a number of children's shows, as well as giving talks on interior decoration on several women's shows.

She was awarded the 2002 Queen Elizabeth Golden Jubilee Medal from the Canadian Governor General for her services to Canada in Île-Perrot, Quebec, Canada.

She was the long time companion of Pierre Gauvreau with whom she had 3 children.

Designer, teacher, artist, she was a cosigner of the Refus global art manifesto.
