Shelton Du Preez is a wildlife cinematographer specialising in underwater and marine natural history filmmaking. From 2024 to 2025, he worked exclusively for the BBC as a cinematographer on Blue Planet III, filming across the landmark series. Prior to this, he spent a year filming parts of Disney's Sea Lions of the Galápagos with Silverback Productions.
Raised between Canada and South Africa, Shelton developed an early connection to the ocean through surfing, freediving, and boating. After beginning his professional life at sea aboard private yachts, he spent a decade sailing around the globe. Drawing on this extensive maritime experience, he transitioned into filmmaking, documenting private expeditions, deep-sea science missions, and NGO led conservation projects in some of the world's most remote and fragile environments.
From Antarctica and Svalbard to the Galápagos and the South Pacific, Shelton has filmed in some of the world's most remarkable marine environments, and many remote corners of the globe in between.
