  • Born and raised in Las Vegas, Monty moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in filmmaking. A recipient of an academic scholarship, Monty graduated Magna Cum Laude from Loyola Marymount University's School of Film and Television. At 24, he made his filmmaking debut with Self-Medicated, a feature he wrote, directed, co-produced, and starred in. The film received critical acclaim on the festival circuit, winning 39 awards, and was released theatrically in the U.S. by ThinkFilm, with its video rights later acquired by Lionsgate.

    Monty later founded Thought Division, a production company specializing in television commercials and web content for major corporations. He also founded and later sold the Las Vegas Film Festival. Most notably, Monty (under his legal name, Andrew Lapica) is the founder of FilmFreeway, the leading online platform connecting filmmakers with film festivals, now used by over 3 million filmmakers. FilmFreeway was acquired by Backstage and private equity firm TA Associates.
