Gurinder J. Singh is a Los Angeles-based, first-generation Indian-American filmmaker and lawyer who believes film can spark conversation and effect meaningful change. Her passion for storytelling began in her parents' movie rental business and grew through co-hosting a radio show with her father and hosting the weekly TV program Wah India!
Her path to filmmaking has been unconventional, spanning engineering, entrepreneurship, law, and over a decade running a live event production company. Her breakout short Rising Lotus screened at 60+ festivals and won 17 awards. Blood Drive followed with 40+ festivals and 16 awards. Together, her films have earned 100+ recognitions and 30+ awards, including 15+ Best Short Film and 10+ Best Director honors.
She studied engineering at the University of Michigan, earned her JD from Wayne State University, was an MFA candidate at USC's Annenberg School, and trained at the New York Film Academy and The Barrow Group.
