- Alfons Goris was born on August 27, 1930 in Herentals, Flanders, Belgium. He was an actor and writer, known for Hebben (1968), Moeder Courage en haar kinderen (1969) and Manko Kapak (1959). He died on April 18, 2018 in Bonheiden, Flanders, Belgium.
- Alfons Goris studied Germanic philology at the National University Ghent (Rijksuniversiteit Gent) and received theater training at the Studio of the National Theater.
- He was honorary director of the Higher Institute for Dramatic Art-Studio Herman Teirlinck and he was until 1987 an acting teacher at MUDRA, the then training center of M. Béjart in Brussels.
- He directed for various theater companies such as K.V.S. (Koninklijke Vlaamse Schouwburg in Brussels), K.N.S. (Koninklijke Nederlandse Schouwburg in Antwerp), T.I.L (Theater Ivonne Lex in Antwerp), ARCA/NET (in Ghent) and Studio Herman Teirlinck (Antwerp).
- Goris also translated work by Euripides, Bertolt Brecht, Michel de Ghelderode, Julius Hay, Peter Hacks, Sean O'Casey and Roger Avermaete, among others.
- He obtained a degree in Philology and Germanic letters in the class of Herman Uyttersprot, who anticipated his gift for the theater.
